Course Description: This course provides an overview of combustible dust hazards in the workplace, including regulations, standards, compliance requirements, and hazard management techniques. Additional topics include conditions for a combustible dust event; OSHA and NFPA combustible dust standards; why employees may choose not to wear PPE; characteristics of task-based and daily wear PPE; how PPE contributes to building a safety culture; risk control measures; and properties of FR clothing.
Learning Objectives: After completing this course, the learner will be able to:
- State the five key conditions for a combustible dust event
- Identify the OSHA and NFPA Standards related to combustible dusts
- Identify the top 5 reasons employees fail to wear PPE
- Describe the differences between task-based and daily wear FR/AR clothing
- State the two protective roles of FR/AR PPE
